Baker County Circuit Court
The Baker County Circuit Court is part of the 8th Judicial District. Judge Matthew B. Shirtcliff serves as the Presiding Judge. The courthouse is on the second floor of the Baker County Courthouse in Baker City. This building has a rich past. Baker County has had three courthouses on the same site over the years. The first was a two-story wood structure built in 1869. It burned down in early 1885. A brick building went up that same year. The current courthouse was finished in 1909. It is a three-story structure made from gray volcanic stone quarried south of town. Under ORS 7.110, the clerk or court administrator has formal custody of all court records and files in Baker County.
